The heart of Hutzulshchyna.... We stayed In Kolomya. It made a perfect jumping off point from which to visit Yaremche and Kosiv. The Staff at the Pysanka hotel went above and beyond the call of duty to make us feel as at home as possible and the hotel overlooks the main maidan of the city. Yaremche was a cute little resort town. Although overcast the weather held and we were able to spend the day walking. We went to the souvenir rynok and although rediculously expensive I've never seen such a collection of vyshyvky pysanky and all kinds of other things like leather work and furs. the highlight of the trip was the Stejky Dovbusha. Oleksa dovbush was a robinhood of the area. The hike ends at Skela Dovbusha or cliffs of dovbush. Kosiv we were told had a great rynok sadly it only happens on saturday. after wandering the city for a couple of hours in the pouring rain we went for chenakhy and checked out a couple of shops and went home. sadly the only shot we took was of the secondhand clothing store... I will say that the people of Kosiv were much more freindly and pleasant towards tourist then in Yaremche. PS in Yaremche the locals greeted each other with Slava Isusu Khrestu....
In Kolomya, we checked out the pysanka museum had some wicked shashlyk, kury hril (rotissery chicken) ended the visit with Adria buying a beautiful Striy at a resonable price and a vyshyvka for a freind of mine.
