After a shoddy welcome to Chernivtzi riding a stinking over packed marshrutka, and being gouged by a taxi because I made some tactical mistakes, then paying a relatively expensive price in a hotel under renovations, then not being able to find a restaurant, We had a very pleasant Kvitna nedilya with beautiful weather while a traffic accident went on outside. After lunch on the maidan and having little children chase pidgeons towards us while we ate, we went to see the University of Chernivtzi what a beautiful campus.

That's Bishop Mykola Simkailo! (Of the Kolomyja-Chernivtsi eparchy.)
He's an interesting character, and a great and funny guy. He was one of the first group of priests and bishops to come out of the underground church in the late 80s, and suffered all sorts of adventures and misadventures because of it, though he is not the type to let that get to him. Here's just one example: http://www.ukrweekly.com/old/archive/2005/240514.shtml
